Initial setup | Free or sequential navigation
We can choose two types of navigation to study contents inside a unit: Free navigation: Students can access any page and/or screen. Sequential navigation: Students navigate unit contents in order, and sections are unlocked once previous sections have been viewed. 1. Access to the administration panel of the unit, enter in the "Configuration" tab and scroll to the "Navigation" zone. 2. Select "Free" or "Sequential" navigation. 3. If you select "Sequential" navigation, you can also mark "Requires achieving objectives to unlock new content". If there are preset goals to pass the unit (See here), Next button will not be enabled until these goals are achieved (screen by screen). So, this way we will make sure users achieve all preset goals. 4. Click on "Save" changes. If you need more information about the navigation and the objetive management, please, see this video:

Initial setup | Configure unit objectives
Goals are actions that the student must take to terminate a unit. Author allows in various templates we can configure that interaction with virtually any component becomes a goal. For example, we could say that the student should visit all the screens of the unit; or that you must also view all the videos on the unit; or that you need to pass the questionnaires... Once we set goals, they must all be met at 100%. So, if you have to watch the videos, you'll need to watch them all, unless we've removed that restriction from an individual video. In most templates, by default, the student must meet at least one goal for the unit to be completed in the LMS: to visit all pages and all screens of the unit (no need to complete them, i.e. scroll to the end). From there, you can modify and make a custom configuration. Remember Goal settings are independent of the way you navigate. You can configure the desired goals and set a sequential or free navigation (See here). So, for example, we could have a content where the goal is to visit all screens, but with free navigation. Thus, the student will be able to visit them in the order that he/she wishes, but he will have to visit them all. See how goals and navigation are set up in this video: General configuration 1. Access to the administration panel of the unit, enter in the "Configuration" tab and scroll to the "Navigation" zone. Just below you have the "Objetives". 2. You will find the different components of the template organized into categories, being able to choose the desired action in each of them. Category section.Sets whether pages or screens are targets. You can decide between: Visit: The goal will be met when the student between the pages/screens. Complete Scrolling: The goal will be met by scrolling to the end of all pages/screens. Category activity.Sets whether questionnaires or reinforcement activities are objectives. you can select from: Not target: default option. The student will not have to interact with this component. Submit: You will need to answer questions from the questionnaire or booster activity at least once. It will not be necessary to get it right, it is enough to answer. Overcome or complete: You will need to pass the quiz cut-off note or booster activity or exhaust available attempts. Multimedia category.Video, interactive video and audio are grouped here. The available options are: Not target: default option. The student will not have to interact with this component. Start playback: You will need to start playing the audios/videos, but you won't need to watch them until the end. Complete playback: Audios/videos will need to be played back to the end. Organizer category. Here are components such as click map, image gallery, audio gallery, timeline, accordion and tab group. The available options are: Not target: default option. The student will not have to interact with this component. Interact: You will need to interact with the component. For example, if it is a click map, click on one of its active areas; if it's an image gallery, move between your images; Etc. Complete: You will need to complete the component, i.e. if it is a click map, access all its active areas; if it's an image gallery, visit all your images, etc. Image category. Group images and similar components. The available options are: Not target: default option. The student will not have to interact with this component. Interact: You will need to interact with the component. If you are a launcher, click on it; if it is a before/after, scroll through it; Etc. In the case of images, it will only have an effect on images that have a link, so you have to click on them. 3. After selecting the desired targets, press "Save" in the Navigation section. Modify the objectives of a particular component Imagine that you have marked that the goal is to start the videos of the unit. This will force all videos that have been incorporated to be viewed. But the Tokyo template allows you to customize this behavior. So, you could say they look all but one of them. To do so: 1. Enter the editing area and select the component you want to modify 2. In the "Exceed Target" property you will see that, by default, "Legacy" is marked. This means that the general parameter configured in the project properties will be applied. By displaying the menu you will be able to choose from the other options available for the configuration of the objectives. So, for example, you could make this video non-target. Show the list of goals to students If the unit has been configured with sequential navigation and required objectives, the page feed button will be locked, and clicking on it will display a popup indicating what the student must do to advance. But if the navigation is free, the student will be able to access any page freely, without receiving specific notifications of the objectives that he/she must perform. For this reason you can activate the "Unit Objectives" button located on the interface, To activate it you must: 1. Access the interface properties. 2. Mark the "Show Goals" property to "Yes".

Initial setup | Multilingual options
When a unit is available in multiple languages, there is an icon included in the Toolbar that allows us to choose the language we prefer to display contents. This icon will appear automatically every time we add a new language to the unit, so no further configuration is required. Check here how to add languages to your units.

Initial setup | Toolbar
Tokyo template allows to create units including additional tools for students. Search tool to find words. Units include this search tool by default, but we can hide it. Additional materials: Glossary, Help and Downloads. Close button. This button is helpful whenever unit contents are displayed on Smartphones. If students want their actions to be saved and sent to the training platform, they need to close the web browser tab where the unit is being displayed. After closing a unit, all tracking data are sent to the Learning Management System (LMS). Mobile users usually do not close the web browser tab, so adding this button prevents data lost. Downloadable PDF of each unit (See here) Language selector. We can choose the language of contents when displaying multilingual units (See here to know how to configure this). This toolbar is responsive, which means this group of buttons can turn into a single drop-down icon whenever the screen width is reduced. Most of these tools and functions can be configured from the unit Interface. Select the Interface Access to "Add content" menu. Add the necessary components. COMPONENT PROPERTIES Glossary popup Once added this component from the properties section we must link the previously created popup of the glossary. Resources popup Once added this component from the properties section we must link the previously created popup of the resources. Help popup Once added this component from the properties section we must link the previously created popup of the help. PDF Link There are different properties that can be modified: Title of the button appearing on the Toolbar. It is the text that will be shown when placing the cursor over the icon. PDF file name. IMPORTANT. If your unit has two languages, you should assign a different name for each PDF version (i.e. content_ES.pdf and content_FR.pdf). Otherwise, a single PDF will be generated for both languages. Include an index Decide whether to add an index to introduce unit sections included in this document. Remember This PDF document will be created after publishing the unit (SeeSection 5.12. in the Author's Guide to find out how to do this), and you will be able to access it: From the Resources folder of a unit. After downloading a published unit, unzipping it, and executing its index.html If you have changed any part of content in a unit, you need to publish it again to see this updated information in the PDF file. Show Close button Enable or hide the Close button. It allows closing a unit in two alternative ways: closing the web browser tab or click on this button. It is recommended that you enable this button when contents will be displayed on Smartphones. Students displaying contents on a PC or a tablet usually close the web browser tab when they finish reading. After closing this tab, the student "trace" is sent (i.e. the information required by a LMS platform such as time spent, progress bar %, and survey records is sent to the LMS). However, users frequently do not close the web browser tab when using mobile phones. They minimise this tab but leave it active in the background. Adding a Close button to a page reminds students they should close a content clicking on this button. This triggers the action of sending the "trace" to the LMS and prevents data lost during data tracking process.

Pages, screens and pop-ups
Tokyo template offers: Content pages, a concept quite similar to sections inside a unit. Screens. Within the pages, screens act as sections and subsections that allow us to organise a secondary navigation level for contents. Pop-ups or pop-up Windows. We should consider the following aspects: A page must always contain at least one screen. There are different types of screens: cover screens, content screens, summary screens, etc. A screen can be as extensive as necessary, including a scroll bar on one side. If a page contains various screens, navigation across pages is done vertically. This example shows three pages: the first has a cover screen, the second has three screens or sections, and the last one has one single page where we can scroll up and down.
